Traditional Bitumen Removal
The amount of bitumen we are able to remove from the back of your parquet floor blocks will vary from batch to batch.
On the majority of parquet floor blocks we may be able to remove almost all the bitumen as it will be dry and brittle, therefore easier for us to remove with our specialist equipment.

Non traditional Bitumen removal
If we are unable to remove the bitumen the traditional way, we do have other options available to remove the bitumen. There may be a premium on the removal price as this involves us cleaning the blocks by hand before the full bitumen removal process.
In some cases the bitumen is flexible and or tacky/sticky. It may look like it is set and dry but under the surface it can still be quite wet and tacky. If the bitumen is wet and tacky, we will remove as much as possible by hand, then we will apply the block to our specialist machinery and leave you with an almost new looking block on the underside.
Firstly, as below the bulk of the bitumen is removed manually.
The second process removes 99% of the bitumen leaving you with a block that looks almost unused. Some types of bitumen may penetrate much deeper in to the block and leave a stain.

The remnants of bitumen showing is in the recess of the block and will not touch the floor. Removing the tongues and cleaning the edges may remove those remnants.

Adhesive/Concrete/Debris removal
In some cases your blocks may have concrete, modern adhesive or some form of debris stuck to the rear.
Don't worry, this can still be removed. There may however be a premium on the removal price, as this involves the cleaning of the blocks by hand prior to either traditional bitumen removal or non traditional bitumen removal.
